I don’t know. It got me thinking when I was taking a shower just before when I realized that I have less than 24 hours left until my status as a “teenager” expires. Shit.
It only seems like last week since I reminded Lucy that she has less than an hour left till she’s no longer a teenager thinking I still had ages till that day comes for me. Ugh. I guess it’s not too much of a deal. Age is just a number right?
On a positive note, here are some things I can now do being the “formal legal age” in Korea. It’s really weird. You can buy alcohol, smokes, go clubbing, pretty much everything from the Jan 1st of the year you turn 19 but can’t do things like buy add-ons for your phone plan, or get a post-paid bus card without your parents consent. Because those things require you to be much more mature right?
Phone plan add-ons - Right now I’m on this plan that has 300 free text messages which is obviously ridiculous for a teenager (...wait.). But in order to buy additional bundles, I have to be either 20 or over, or have parental consent like mentioned above. So I’ve been spending more on txts than I should have which I don’t have to anymore since I can buy the bundles wee.
Post-paid transportation card - I spend around 100NZD / 80,000KRW on transport each month which I need to top up manually and risk the whole card being lost/stolen. I don’t know, but this is a hassle. There is a service however where you can pay for it using your credit card (like literally beeping/clicking on with your credit card) and paying for the sum at the end of the month. One catch is - again, you have to be over 20.
So quite little things but these are like the only benefits of turning twenty here. I miss that feeling of excitement of turning 15/18. Ah.
...yeah that didn't make me feel any better. Goodbye teen.

The ATM wishing me a happy birthday. Thanks, you're a lot better than some of my so-called friends :)
