iPhone 4S

This morning, as expected Apple announced the next generation iPhone - iPhone 4S.

Contrary to popular belief, the 'iPhone 5' was not announced and it will not be released any time soon. However the iPhone 4S will be released next Friday in the US and a few more countries.

The rest of the details can be found pretty much anywhere on the internet (including my Twitter).

What I really want to talk about is what this 'iPhone 4S' really means.

This morning when I woke up to watch the event live, I was also disappointed at the lack of the iPhone 5.

But what is this iPhone 5 everyone was really waiting for? What if they just called the iPhone 4S as the iPhone 5?

Here's a list of expectations:
  • Design change (mentioned in my previous post)
  • A larger 4" screen
  • Improved 8MP camera
  • Faster processor
  • Larger memory
  • Larger flash memory
  • Some magical feature
Well, let's see what the iPhone 4S offers:
  • Improved 8MP camera, more specifically
    • five element lens
    • 30% more sharpness
    • f/2.4 aperture
    • face detection
  • 1080p HD Video Recording
  • Up to 2x faster with dual core graphics 7x faster
  • 64GB models
  • Siri
What I'm really trying to say is, Apple delivered everything except for a design change with a larger screen. If you were considering on buying the iPhone 5 but changed your mind, because of what Apple announced today, then I suppose I can only generalize you as those whose purchase gadgets with the design factor seen as top priority.

All this Apple bashing with no real justified reasons on Twitter and Facebook is making me rage. But I suppose
